About The Book
Vaastu Shastra is the ancient Indian science of architecture, building construction and interior layout with furniture, colours and pictures. It seeks to bring an agreeable connection between the builder, the building, the occupant and the environmental energies.
Hindu philosophy says that fame and fortune depends on our “horoscope” or destiny and our “karma” or our actions. Following Vaastu is a part of “karma”. The followers of Vaastu Shastra believe that adherence to the rules brings good fortune to the residents of a house constructed and laid out as per Vaastu Shastra.
The revival of interest of the general populace in Vaastu Shastra is of recent origin, i.e. about 15 to 20 years. The credit for this goes to the pioneering consultants of Vaastu Shastra and the role of media which kindled interest of the general public in the subject and convinced a large percentage of them that following Vaastu Shastra ensures peace and more importantly, prosperity to the household. As a result, many books have been published and many articles written in newspapers and magazines.
This book seeks to provide the basic knowledge about Vaastu Shastra in a simple language and with an easy to follow layout so that the reader can avoid the expenses of engaging a consultant for minor matters and also be knowledgeable enough to evaluate the advice of the consultant before incurring expenditure in carrying out modifications or rectifications.
This book is different from most other books on the subject because it is written by a civil engineer and management consultant and not by a pandit. It lays emphasis on logic and the practical aspects while evaluating plots, houses, flats and offices instead of following superstitions.
The book will be useful to common readers especially those who seek to apply Vaastu Shastra when constructing or hiring their houses but find it too expensive to engage consultants.
